Beach House Trip

September 2003

Collage of Flowers
PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
July 2003
Beverly McCollum
Beverly writes: "I was fooling around one day taking pictures of all my flowers in bloom. Then I relaxed at the computer, playing around and put this collage of flowers together  from the pictures I took. Well when I printed it out  I couldn't believe my eyes at how pretty this picture was for my first time doing this. I took it to work to show everyone and they all said I should enter this in a contest. Well I couldn't wait to get home to find a contest on the computer. Glad I found you, hope you like it."

  • PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
    June 2003

    Tulips
    PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
    May 2003
    Rhonda Coy

    Gorgeous Yellow Dahlias
    PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
    April 2003
    Shirley Speed
    Franklin, North Carolina
Shirley writes: "Last year, I really wanted to try growing lots of different dahlias.  This gorgeous yellow one outdid itself in blooms and bloomed until frost.  Dahlias are a real joy to plant and watch grow."

    Holleyhock Mallow
    PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
    March 2003
    Darryl Coan
    Staunton, Illinois
Darryl writes: "I so enjoy this picture of my hollyhock mallow both because of the cheer it brings me in winter and how the 'old-time' look of the plant is a reminder that a garden is a legacy.  These mallow plants bloom both in summer and often stay green and bloom into December, even when temperatures are below freezing and it's snowing.  Hard freezes will finally wilt their stalks."

    Cannas
    PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
    February 2003
    JoAn Taylor
    San Diego, California
JoAn writes: "I have always wanted to have canna plants in my yard, and last year managed to plant a LOT of them just outside my (home) office window.  I never tire of watching the sunlight play on the blossoms and leaves and the hummingbirds flit from one flower to another.  This particular flower seemed just radiant, and the picture will always remind me of the pleasure this view has given me."

    Garden Photo
    PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
    January 2003
    Roxanne McMillen
    Huntington Beach, California
Roxanne writes: "I enjoy this photo because it reminds me how far our yard has come from the plain grass that it used to be.  We have used many drought tolerant plants and have removed all the regular grass.  (The blue pride of Madeira is awesome and I don't water it!)  We brought the broken concrete from our old patio to the front yard and planted it with Korean grass."
