Don't Forget Your Indoor Garden!
There is still plenty of time to get your indoor garden started and enjoy some great bulbs blooming this winter.  Plant several pots of Paperwhites, Amaryllis, Hyacinths, Narcissus Tete a Tete, water them well and keep them in a cool dark place.  Forcing instructions can be found here...as well as in previous issues of our Happy Gardening Newsletter November 3, 2005, October 24, 2002, November 15, 2001, October 1, 2001!

A Couple of Tips from Us!
  • You can still divide your herbaceous perennials if you have some that are doing very well in your garden and you want them to fill out a few more square feet.  It makes for a nice 'show' when there are areas where plants are 'flowing' rather than symmetrically aligned in a triangle or square.  Water the 'motherplant' the day before, then dig it up and divide in 2 or 4 or more, making to sure to keep at least one or more 'eyes' per division.  Cut out the dead parts (if any), then replant and water well.
  • Give your dormant plants some extra cover with some mulch, compost, bark, etc.  This little bit of caring goes a long way in protecting the plants until Spring.
